Men, fire, and dangerous things
At the NRO, Chris McEvoy impugns Rich Lowry's manhood over deep-fried turkey.
On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Rich called from his cell. [ed. I assumed Rich must be in custody, having burned down the neighborhood, but not so...] He was going for it — but only tentatively, and what might be termed disturbingly by true fry-heads. Rich was under the impression that he could deep-fry a bird stovetop, dropping select turkey sections in a smaller-than-standard pot of vegetable oil. I was appropriately scared for Rich and his family. This is an outside activity, I reminded him. And everything about it is large. Large pot, large burner, large attitude.

Lava lamp left on hot stovetop explodes, killing man [AP]:
KENT, Washington (AP) -- A man who placed a lava lamp on a hot stovetop was killed when it exploded and sent a shard of glass into his heart, police said.
Philip Quinn, 24, was found dead in his trailer home Sunday night by his parents.
"Why on earth he was heating a lava lamp on the stove, we don't know," Kent Police spokesman Paul Petersen said Monday.
After the lamp exploded, Quinn apparently stumbled into his bedroom, where he died Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Police found no evidence of drug or alcohol use.

Rule #1 Grease fires are not something you want to fool with. Don't chance it.
Rule #2 Never toss water on a grease fire.
Rule #3 Lowry is a Turkey.
