General Kevin Byrnes roundup

The blogosphere mulls the firing of four-star general Kevin T. Byrnes, allegedly for consensual, heterosexual adultery. [AP]

Arianna finds Byrnes' firing highly suspicious, but she suspects that Byrnes is just a convenient "moral values" scapegoat.

One Hand Clapping notes that four-star generals are hired (and likely fired) with presidential approval:

[...] four-star generals are few in the services and are appointed very carefully by the president both to that rank and to their jobs. There’s no doubt that before Gen. Schoomaker relived Byrnes he and the secretary of the Army both had lengthy conversations with each other and with President Bush. And there is also no doubt that the president approved the relief in advance because there’s no chance that Gen. Schoomaker or the Army secretary did the deed and then informed the commander in chief.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to learn that President Bush actually ordered the relief, although I don’t think we’ll ever learn that, if so.

Nope, don't suppose we will.

It’s hard to believe that General Kevin Byrnes has been shit-canned for adultery. That’s because we all know that when an organization goes after an employee for violating a rule or making a mistake that lots of other employees have gotten away with th... [Read More]

Oh, it'll come out sooner or later. We just need to wait a couple of weeks. I do agree that this doesn't make any sense at all.

Besides, the track record of the Administration points towards some sort of mischief.

The Left wants to use this to promote the idea that Byrnes was a honosexual or a pedophile or an anti-Bush military man. Byrnes was fired not so much because of adultery but because he disobeyed a direct order (given him 2003) to stop seeing the woman until he was divorced. You cannot have a general disobeying a direct order no matter what it is about. Generals Patton and MacArtur were also both relieved of command for disobeying an order.

The oddity of this is the alleged cause.

One of the quirks of Art. 134 of the UCMJ (the one which gives power to prosecute adultery doesn't prohibit it, in specific it says: ART. 134. GENERAL ARTICLE
Though not specifically mentioned in this chapter, all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special or summary court-martial, according to the nature and degree of the offense, and shall be punished at the discretion of that court.

The only other article which might be directly applicable is 133: Conduct unbecoming an officer.

Back when the AF Capt. was charged she wasn't charged with adultery, but rather with disobeying an order (Art. 92) after her commander told her to stop sleeping with an Airman who was married to another Airman.

So for Byrne to be charged under 134 the case has to be made the affair was in someway directly damaging to the good order and discipline, or otherwise likely to bring discredit on the Army (which would require the affair become not merely public, but notable).

So this has all the appearance of a witch hunt, or of his being shunted out for some political reason.

Lets not forget that Kevin Byrnes was overseeing a Nuke drill in Charlston NC this august.

Let me make a example of something.

On 911 Fema was in Ny on 9/10 for a drill called "Operation Tripod". For a drill on terrorism. Instead the next day well we know what happend the next day.

On 7/7/2005 a consultancy agency with government and police connections was running a exercise for a unnamed company that revolved around the london underground being bombed at the exact same time and locations that happened in real life on the morning of july 7th.

Now General Kevin Byrnes was in command of a Drill that is supposed to take place this august in Charlston NC. That is to simulate a terrorist group smuggling a nuke bomb off a ship and detonating it on shore.

The question we need to ask america is this.

In every other attack latley there has been a drill that is supposed to take place on or around the same day of the actual attack in the same place.

The sad facts are this. The General is a real american and was very well aware that this nuke drill was gunna go live and was about to lead a coup against the president and his cabinet. Expose the truth and for that he was removed.

He probably succeded in stalling this new Al CIA da i mean alquada attack. This is the truth a private in the army will not be kicked out for adultry that is the cover story. Nonsence is all it is a white wash. Chenny and Rumsfeld are the ones telling us were gunna get nuked and they know this because like 9/11, they will make it happen.

And before you call me a commie or a nonamerican know this im a real american a real patriot and if you cant see the tyranny going on right now in this white house then you are the one with the problem not me.

Oh yea and one more point.

If adultry is so horrible that a 4 star general who might i add didnt get along with Rumsfeld gets removed from duty.

Then why the hell was Clinton the president of the united states allowed to keep his office after commiting the same offence???

Geese i just realized that i put Charlston NC duahhhhh.

I apologize Charlston SC......
