"They all look a certain way"
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (AP) -- Federal agents arrested a 24-year-old man at an Oklahoma airport Wednesday after finding what appeared to be an explosive in his bag, authorities said. [CNN]
Another white guy with a bomb, who probably will be dismissed as an outlier by would-be racial profilers Dov Hikind and James Otto.
Same guy?

Lindsey,
They DO all look alike. This clown looks like Tim McVeigh.

The very same. His Dad, Charles ("Chuck") Dreyling, Sr. is a pharmacist at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Notice that Charlie's resume lists a job at St. Anthony's.
Chuck Dreyling gave http://www.city-data.com/elec/elec-OKLAHOMA-CITY-OK.html>$500 to Humphreys for Senate. Humphreys is the mayor of Oklahoma City who's quoted in the AP story swearing up and down that Charlie Dreyling Jr. is a good boy and no terrorist.

The kid comes from a prominent local family. Dad was on the board of the

I'm sure he'll get off with a slap on the wrist. Youthful hijinks and all.

Doesn't it seem odd how little attention this arrest has garnered?

The wayward sons of Oklahoma's prominent have wreaked more havoc on America than any terrorist.

As a white guy in his 20s with close-cropped hair, I demand that I be stopped and searched on a regular basis. Who knows what I'm up to? Furthermore, I look forward to the agitated cries from the right that young, short-haired white guys are insufficiently vociferous in condemning the terrorist actions of young, short-haired white guys.

So do people feel any kind of demographic profiling is wrong on principle (if so, why?), or just racial profiling? A friend of mine mentioned the other day that he - as a young, white guy - wouldn't mind being stopped at airports and such if the policy were to stop young-to-middle-aged men in general. (As compared to stopping both young men and older women who appear to be Muslim, say.) Would people consider such a measure sexist? Isn't targetting everyone equally rather impractical when it comes to fighting crime?

Where's the MSM on this? Come on!

Dreyling's resume is pretty weird. I mean, I know he's a freshman so there's not going to be much on it, but, uh, "flying airplanes"? Does he mean toy airplanes, or what?
Odd that he didn't put "blowing them up" on there.

I'd make a guess he's a child of wealth which, in Oklahoma, means you don't need to do much except wear the right outfits and make sure you only smear those who are fashionable to smear.
The former mayor is standing up for him and is also his landlord, which tells you just how well connected his family is.
Mind you, this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened here. The wealthy children of privilege in Oklahoma are always screwing up in spectacularly sociopathic ways. They're almost as entertaining (cough) as the children of evangelists.

random girl--
Yeah, demographic profiling is wrong in principle. Everyone has the right to equal treatment under the law. If security concerns make it necessary to stop and search all young white men, then it's almost certainly necessary to stop everyone.
Take your example of stopping people at airports. Right now, everyone gets stopped. Everyone gets their baggage x-rayed, and everyone goes through a metal detector. If we limited searches to young men, or Arabic men, or whatever, it wouldn't be too hard for terrorists to find someone who didn't fit the profile. If it wasn't Richard Reid, it would be Jose Padilla or Wafa Idris.
When police have a partial description of a suspect to work with, that's different. I had no problem with being stopped in Seattle for meeting a general description (white, about 6', 20-30, wearing a long coat). Someone had witnessed a crime, and the police were stopping everyone in the neighborhood who met that description.
What the racial profilers are calling for is treating law-abiding Arabs differently than they treat the rest of us. That means that my friend Kamran would have to endure humiliating searches every time he went to a baseball game, or to the theater, or anyplace where lots of people gather. All this, despite the fact that he's American, he's never been accused of any crime, and he's not even Arabic (his parents were Iranian).
Given the fact that most terrorist acts in this country are perpetrated by white men like Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph, why should Kamran be treated like a second-class citizen, and not me?

Humphreys, of course, is now the ex-mayor, but Cookie is quite right: if your old man has money, you can get away with all manner of crap in Soonerland.

Internment for all mid-20s white men! I will gladly turn myself over to protect the Fatherland. Er, I mean, America.

david, mudkitty, you might want to check out Orcinus. Dig around a little bit, and you'll find repeated occurrences Mr. Neiwert has documented of, "It ain't terrorism if it involves white right-wingers." This includes the federal government as well as the MSM.
Now, if this fellow turns out to have recently converted to Islam, or if he can be linked to Greenpeace or certain animal-rights activists, then you'll see the noise level go up a few notches. Until then, don't hold your breath.
