The Weekly Standard goes apeshit over George Allen

The right wing Weekly Standard admits the truth about embattled Virginia senator George Allen: He's not very bright, he can't legislate, he called Mr. S.R. Sidarth a monkey on tape, he lied to a local Chamber of Commerce about his Jewish heritage, and, if he loses to Jim Webb it will be his own damned fault for being such a bumbling bigot.
I couldn't have said it better myself.

So then are they endorsing Webb for the Senate? If not then they are basically saying, "This guy is a stupid racist asshole and a shitty congressman, but vote for him anyway because he's still a Republican."

I think they just declared neutrality. It's a step.
Allen really is a piece of work. It takes quite a fuckup to alienate the Jews and the anti-semites at one go.
What I really love is that he was brought down by what his defenders call "race baiting." To which I just have to laugh and say, "Yeah, watch out for race baiters. They'll really fuck you over, even if you are a Confederate groupie."

In the words of that great American, Gomer Pyle, "surprise, surprise" Salon finds out Allen is a racist.
Speaking of tongue wagging, nice to see Jeff Cohen point out that Rush called Tom Daschle the devil.
In other news, the secret word is "door".

I enjoyed how the article noted that Allen "collects" Confederate battle flags and nooses (fer chrissake) and then appears to lament the passing of a Virginia where this might be seen as a political plus.

Apparently, his mom's Jewish, but he's Presbyterian. So as far as your average Klansman is concerned, he's a Jew and must be treated as such.

For some reason the Feedburner and RSS feeds are out of order for Majikthise. Not in the sense of not working, but being literally in a strange order that is not chronological.

Anyhow, under the Nazi definition, George Allen is Jewish enough to be sent to the camps.

As for myself, so to save any wondering, I was raised as a Reform Jew, although my mother's parents were Conservative.

As a proponent of the glass-half-full view of life (hey, I'm Jewish, and you know what a downer we folks can be), can I just say that this makes me nervous? Because if The Weekly Standard crew is throwing Allen to the dogs, it's because there's some other dogshit candidate they'd like to sell us instead (I'm guessing McCain). These guys couldn't care less that Allen is a racist or an anti-Semite: they're trying to clear the runway for 2008 early.

My dad started doing research on our family tree a few years ago. He stopped when he found a Jewish great great grandmother!
I'm not sure if he stopped because he found a Jew, or if he feared what else he might find if he poked around enough.

George Allen is entering the territory Kathryn Harris inhabits: being such a loser and so in over his/her head that one feels a bit sorry for them even though they're dog shit.
George Bush is slowly creeping towards that zone himself, though he's the kind of dog shit that is very, very dangerous.
