--After wondering why more young women don't think of or refer to themselves as feminists--
Maybe young women see the likes of Susan Brownmiller and the dearly departed Andrea Dworkin and say to themselves " if that's feminism, count me out "

Thanks for the heads up. I can't get to New York, but I'll get the book.

Is Amanda going to read from her own book at this event, or is she going to read from someone else's blog, but pretend that it's her own work, as she's been doing lately?

I too hate the question "why don't more young women call themselves feminists?" Want to know? Ask them then don't reject their answers out of hand.
It smacks of convenient self-delusion to ask a question then invent your own answer while ignoring all evidence.
Similarly people ask "why don't more progressive men call themselves feminists?", then ignore all the answers they get back from progressive men. I've seen threads where ten progressive men give similar answers and the response is "no you're wrong, here's the real answer!"
I can tell you why I don't call myself a feminist: I don't want to be associated with people like Himali and Ansel.
Feminism is not just about believing that women are equal to men and should be treated as such. It's a shared community and culture which unfortunately has a lot of very negative qualities.

You can never be sure about these things, but I think it changed its name.
