Gawker editor Richard Blakely jokes about date rape
Today, Attackerman calls out a particularly blatant bit of misogyny in the ironosphere.
Ackerman caught Gawker's video editor, Richard Blakely, soliciting suggestions for an upcoming Boinkology post on "where to take a girl for a first date...rape."
Blakely makes former Gawker editor Emily Gould seem downright classy by comparison.

Gawker is imbeclic. Never understood its attraction.

"Gawker is imbeclic. Never understood its attraction."
Gawker is attractive BECAUSE it is imbecilic. Think of how dumb the average person is. Half of em are dumber then that. No getting around that cold fact.

This doesn't make any sense at all. Have you considered the possibility that you aren't any smarter than the people you are trying to disparage here?

Wow, I read that email and it's about 100 times worse than I guessed. For some reason, I didn't think he'd carry out the entire joke, but no. He wants to write an entire guide on how to date rape someone. He could get himself sued by a victim of someone who reads his advice and follows it.

TomK is practicing in hyperbole. I understood his point.

"Think of how dumb the average person is. Half of em are dumber then that."
Than.

On topic - wow. I expected a one-line off-color joke, not a dedicated message on the subject.

Pwned, I believe, is the technical term.

Looks like the article's been pulled.

Gawker is difficult to ignore, but, apparently, well worth the effort.

What a dick! Rape is just not appropriate for use as hyperbole or jokes. Period. As for Gawker, I have no use for it and have no trouble ignoring it whatsoever. It's crap and I can't support it.
Gossip has a poisonous effect on the gossiper as well as the gossipee. It's why Buddhists place such a high value on Samma Vaca or Right Speech. What you say and what you read directly reflect who you are. Lies, gossip, condemnation, and harsh language are seen a sign of low-self esteem.
Clearly, I am a long ways off from attaining Nirvana. My remaining "issues" are expressed in any number of ways (see: "What a dick!"). But gossip isn't among them.

I admit, I had to laugh (in a dark, twisted way) at the mismatch of his ridiculously chipper tone ("if you're too busy, that's cool, i understand. thanks!") with his subject matter.

Nothing is unclassy enough to make Emily Gould look classy.
