McCain campaign member race baiting in Virginia

Stay classy, Bobby May:

A local newspaper columnist, in a spoof of Obama’s platform, wrote in one recent piece that the Democrat would hire the rapper Ludacris to paint the White House black (a reference to a pro-Obama song by Ludacris), and divert more foreign aid to Africa so "the Obama family there can skim enough to allow them to free their goats and live the American Dream." He joked that Obama would replace the 50 stars on the U.S. flag "with a star and crescent logo," an Islamic symbol, and that his policy on drugs would be to "raise taxes to pay for Obama's inner-city political base."

The columnist, Bobby May, is also treasurer of the Buchanan County Republican Party and was listed in a July news release as the county's representative on McCain's Virginia leadership team, though he said his column reflected his views alone, and he denied it was racist. [LAT]

I wonder if the McCain campaign will ask him to step down, or give him a promotion.

A republican saying something racist!?

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

paint the White House black (a reference to a pro-Obama song by Ludacris)

Um...sort of.

Lets have a musical interlude shall we

Hey, there's a few of these Paint the White House Black bejabbering videos on youtube.

Lets have some more posts about the Rethug race baiting! Too funny.

I read the column "The (Clarified) Platform of Barack Hussein Obama" by Bobby Lee May, bobbyleemay@yahoo.com. It's as far as you can go with race baiting without using the 'N' word. Hell, it's not race baiting, it's racist.

Seems like the political "Mavericks" and "Outsiders" learned a lot from Bush's 2000 and 2004 smear campaigns. Golly, gee, Sarah, that just ain't nice, you sanctimonious pig (with lipstick)!

You're being insufficiently cynical. The McCain campaign will ask him to step down and give him a promotion. The trick is to make sure that different people hear different messages.

Har, har! Hilarious! Gotta love those "racial" jokes. More uproarious knee-slappers here.

(Disclaimer: Why post such an obscene & disgusting link? Because I've about had my fill of racist Obama jokes, and they and Mr. May's odious little witticisms need to be put in their proper context.)

Ah, yes, everyone who makes a comment about Obama being black or referening rappers or anything from black culture is just racist! Golly gee, I guess I am a racist because I was slamming Obama for his Rev. Wright Ayers connections! (I do agree that the Africa part was pretty bad! But witty!)

This May guy may be a douchebag, but I read the column and just laughed. Don't take it so seriously! But that won't happen. The sensitivity meter is up way too high and this thing is going negative now. Time for this guy to tune out. I guess I do not know why you folks don't as well. I am fairly certain you already know who you are voting for, as am I, and have know it since he announced he was running!

Ok, now, bash away on me since I disagreed with the tenor of this post and all of your replies!! ;)

"Ah, yes, everyone who makes a comment about Obama being black or referening rappers or anything from black culture is just racist!"

No, suggesting that black people will "trash the place" if they venture outside their assigned lower place in society is racist.

cfrost,

When I first checked out your link I wasn't sure what to make of it. I felt uncomfortable just reading it. For a minute I thought that it was inappropriate for you to provide the link.

Then I realized the point you were trying to make. The only difference between the Bobby Lee May column and your link was the use of the 'N' word. I made that point, above, but you provided an explicit comparison that exposed the racism in May's column.

B-Money,

Consider yourself bashed.

Bash me too. I'm not a fan of your false messiah

Oh wait a minute
this is the real one

Which homage to the Dear Leader is the more disturbing example of child abuse?

Phantom, if I were going to bash you, it would be for making absolutely no sense. Who cares if some obscure organization made an Obama commercial with singing children? What's with the messiah/Hitler talk?

Norman Costa,

I hesitated before punching the "post" button. Those kind of jokes are to humor what kiddie porn is to erotica. And if you find that sort of "humor" funny, well . . .

Phantom, you have well and truly jumped the shark... and not some little sand shark, but a genuine great white. Obama is not a Nazi. People who favor increased corporate regulation and affordable child care are not Nazis. There are no Nazis here. All you accomplish by jumping up and down at screaming at us in this fashion is to make a buffoon out of yourself. That is not a good look on you.

Maybe you should take a lesson from the preceeding comment, and learn to pause, and think, that fateful instant before you push the "Post" button.

Speaking of fascism, though- look what I just found over at Kathy G.'s...

"...and a few members were even told there would be martial law in America if this (bailout) bill wasn't passed."

http://thegspot.typepad.com/blog/2008/10/congressman-say.html

My point is that for many people, Obama is seen as some sort of a messiah. It's both amusing and disturbing to see.

The adults who abused those children into singing a worshipful hymn to their "dear leader" are among them. Very much of the appeal of Obama to many is emotional, and has nothing to do with any of the issues.

The phenomenon of "Obama Youth" is again weird. These kids were probably put up to it by parents who misused their authority. But look too on youtube for the film of a black fraternity in military like uniforms taking a "pledge of allegiance" to Obama- not to the US.

You don't see "McCain Youth", nor did you see "Bush Youth" or "Gore Youth" or so down the line.

You may see it as insulting, but these images bring to mind young Germans in "Hitler Youth" or the North Koreans singing hymns of praise to their hereditary Communist monarch.

The parallels are there to see for anyone who will open their eyes.

Pledge allegiance to Obama! Now!

As we all know, filming children singing is a better sign of Nazism and Communism than, say, aggressive wars, suppressing dissent, or stealing elections. One singing child equals a thousand - no, ten thousand! - Brooks Brothers Riots.

I thought this was a stupid line of argument when McCain's supporters started to spin popularity into a political flaw. It's impressive how hysterically and how far the Phantom has managed to carry McCain's water.

Phantom, is there any subject you're competent to comment on? I would think we would see it by now, thanks to your pathetic obsession with this site.

Fungi

Children singing adoring songs about the Dear Leader is disgusting and manipulative. Your first sentence is so full of false premises, it qualifies as the howler of the year.

Those children's parents put them up to that. Its child abuse.

And even some Obama supporters are disturbed by the "Obama Pledge of Allegiance" by youths in military type outfits. I'm sure you're OK with that too.

Child abuse? Give me a break. Do you know anything about these kids and their reasons for participating? You're just assuming their parents made them do it. A tenuous assumption at best. I was involved with politics on my own before I was in middle school.

Even if the parents did encourage the kids to sing a campaign song, so what? Is it abusive to enroll your kid in a church choir before they're old enough to decide for themselves whether they agree with the religion? Also, those kids appear to be pretty serious singers. For musicians, a gig is a gig.

By this silly standard: Dubya, noted child abuser.

Bet they didn't sing a song about how wonderful GW Bush was!

Wow, this has degenerated into child abuse claims?? Oh man. How low are we going? Some kids did a YouTube video that was pretty lame and quite comical. But in no way distrubing, as Phantom is trying to say it is. It was as lame and comical as the May story. People are lacking a sense of humor these days and getting way to partisan. My lord, people are talking shit about Biden getting Botox! Is that really a notable political topic that affects his ability to be VP?

Is it abusive to enroll your kid in a church choir before they're old enough to decide for themselves whether they agree with the religion?

Yes, it is.
