Is there some subtle meaning to the use of the word "Bare," or is it just spelling fail?

I notice a lot of spelling errors in store signs here in New York. A lot of them are from proprietors whose first language is not English, but there are loads of them from English speakers, too.

There's one spelling error that's so widespread I'm not sure whether it's intentional: many bodegas selling Boar's Head meat have prices listed "buy the pound."

I have often wondered whether some of the spelling errors I have seen in Chinese menus are placed there by English majors seeking to preserve a mark of "authenticity" in an otherwise forgettable restaurant.

I bared my responsibility one time and only got a week in the clink.

The owner is covertly responsible. Didn't Heraclitus say phoolishness loves to hide?
