Karzai was declared the winner this week after his opponent dropped out of the runoff election because the pro-Karzai "independent" election council did nothing avert a re-run of the massive pro-Karzai cheating that necessitated the runoff in the first place. The New York Times recently exposed Karzai's brother Walid as an opium-trafficker in the pay of the CIA. Karzai's running mate is an ex-warlord accused of drug trafficking.
