Schmidt's link to Noe

Bilde

Developing...

We've already established that Jean Schmidt had dealings with Thomas Noe through the Ohio Board of Regents. However, it appears that Schmidt may also be connected through other channels. Here's what I've been able to find out so far. Links and additional details later. I've got to go out now, so I'm putting these tangatlizing fragments up in the hopes that other bloggers will investigate these leads further. Distributed processing is power!

Jean Schmidt's campaign manager is Brett Bureck. Bureck is married to Jessica "Scottie" May, the Vice President of Hicks Partners consulting. Scottie testified before a Grand Jury last year in connection with Thomas Noe and Coingate. The photograph, above, shows Scottie and her husband Brett at the Toledo courthouse where the grand jury was held.

Brian Hicks runs Hicks Partners. The Bush/Cheney team hired Hicks Partners to coordinate the now-notrorious 2003 luncheon with President Bush addressed the party faithful the Hyatt Recency in Columbus, Ohio. That fundraiser, at which Noe was a "table sponsor" netted $1.4 million for the Bush/Cheney reelection war chest.

Brian Hicks is also under investigation for "renting" Thomas Noe's home in Florida for a fraction of market rates.

This must be some sort of GOP thing. We have a similar thing happening in California right now with Randy "Duke" Cunningham. The doofus "sold" his home to a defense contractor at a grotesquely inflated rate, etc, etc...

There really is no floor for the GOP...

Interesting bit: When you look at Hicks Partners website they list access to the Bush Administration as a specific service they offer.

Good evening...

Does anyone have information as to whether Brian Hicks is a relative of Thomas Hicks (theHicks of Hicks, Tate, Muse & Furst; the guy who sold W the Texas Rangers for a song?)...

Sorry, actually trying to do a little journalism on a sultry evening in Los Angeles...

Brian Hicks is not related to Tom Hicks. Brian is a local boy who was active in OSU student politics and then went right to work for the GOP after college. He has never held another job outside of politics, as far as I know.

It's one thing for this story to be all over the (lib) blogs. But if this story's not being hammered on all Ohio's local news programs then it doesn't matter, in terms of helping Hackett, one whit.

Googling some of the relevant terms, there seems to be quite a few hits from places like the Plain Dealer and the Beacon...

Would always like to see more, though...

The national leadership should be pulling out all of the stops, but nooooooo.
