Louisiana will likely lose a Congressional seat

MyDD tackles the growing problem of gerrymandering by deportation:

Beyond the thousands of lives lost, the millions of people displaced, and the billions of dollars in damage, The New York Times is reporting more likely fallout from Hurricane Katrina -- Louisiana's loss of a seat in Congress. The state had already been losing population before the hurricane and demographers are now considering the consequences if large numbers of the displaced do not return.

The impact of the redistricting will be felt most strongly at the State level. Whenever pundits and planners start gunning for the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, remember that the Ninth Ward was a Democratic stronghold with significant influence at the municipal level.

I suppose the democrat is paying heavy price for not developing the area and thinking the stronghold will last forever without investing in infrastructure.

corruption will ruin all work in the end.

Perhaps we could relocate all the displaced poor people from Nawl'ns to Santorum's home district. I was going to say DeLay's district, but that looks like it's taking care of itself.
