Dean Esmay wants Eric Lichtblau dead

Digby's guest blogger Glenn Greenwald has a chilling post about the rising tide of right wing treason rhetoric directed at reporters who expose the administration's abuses of power.

Apparently, Dean Esmay wants the New York Times reporters who broke the NSA domestic spying story dead.

Glenn writes:

When Bush followers use terms like "subversives" and "traitors," and when they accuse people of engaging in "treason," many assume that they are joking, that it’s a form of political hyperbole and it’s only meant symbolically. Pajamas Media member and Instapundit favorite Dean Esmay wants it know that the terms "traitors" and "treason" are used literally, and that these traitors must meet the fate which traitors deserve:
"When I say "treason" I don't mean it in an insulting or hyperbolic way. I mean in a literal way: we need to find these 21st century Julius Rosenbergs, these modern day reincarnations of Alger Hiss, put them on trial before a jury of their peers, with defense counsel. When they are found guilty, we should then hang them by the neck until the are dead, dead, dead.

No sympathy. No mercy. Am I angry? You bet I am. But not in an explosive way. Just in the same seething way I was angry on 9/11.

These people have endangered American lives and American security. They need to be found, tried, and executed."

Yet strangely Karl Rove's leaks are not culpable at all.

Conservative ideology would dictate that the traitors are those who subvert the constitution, or who attack the nation. Esmay and others who call themselves conservative are changing the definition of treason. For them, it is disloyalty to the State and to the executive. That's not conservatism, it's fascism.

On the day that Tookie Williams was put to death, the importunate raccoon who thinks he runs the country allowed as how his game in Iraq had killed around 30,000 of the homies there... and we know a couple thousand of our local guys 'n gals have, likewise, perished- thanks to him, and the lies he promulgated, I reckon.
Well, what the hell... let him kill some reporters, too. Maybe he could drown Eric in the collective blood of the American Enterprise Institute, for starters... ^..^

"These people" certainly endanger American security. Part of the security of every state is letting its leaders trample over everyone they want kept down, and especially making sure their summary executions and imprisonments are secret; checks and balances, as well as civil liberties, are a danger to that security. Those who endanger the security of any state, especially a powerful one such as the US, deserve to be awarded prizes and honors, and showered with praise.

Yep, Esmay has to be the most insane person not related to a famous political theorist currently writing on the internets...

I didn't know John Hindraker was related to a famous political theorist.
