Betting on the Duke lacrosse DNA tests

Rachel notes that sports betting companies are taking bets on the Duke lacrosse team DNA tests.

The DNA tests are in, and it looks like there were NO MATCHES — according to the players' lawyers, at least. So, if this info is correct, we are left with a bunch of louts, not rapists.

Whoops, I didn't read the comments on the other post first. My bad.

Ok, betting on who it was that raped someone...that just ain't right.

Notice however, that the gambling operation was assuming one or two matches. In other words, they believed a rape occurred.

The betting was that one or two matches would show up, and I doubt that the people laying those bets had any other motive than to make money. It is a pretty interesting indicator of where people's opinions stood, in early 2006.
