Goss-ip: Your Hookergate update
As you probably know, Porter Goss has resigned from the CIA, officially because he sucked at the job. He did, but since when has a Bush appointee left office merely for incompetence? It generally takes a mass casualty and an international public outcry to pry a Bush crony from his mahogany desk.
Rumor has it that Goss left office abruptly because he has links to the Wilkes-Cunningham Hookergate scandal.
What's the Wilkes-Cunningham Hookergate scandal?
Here's a brief review of the players (or playahs, as the case may be):
Duke Cunningham. Former Republican Congressman Duke Cunningham was sentenced to 8 years in prison after pleading guilty to bribery, conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. Cunningham's modus operandi was to take bribes to steer defense contracts to his paymasters.
Two defense contractors who bribed Cunningham are Brent Wilkes (founder of ADCS Inc.) and Mitchell Wade (founder of MZM Inc.).
Brent Wilkes. A defense contractor under FBI investigation for allegedly providing Cunnningham with prostitutes, limousines and hotel suites. It now appears that Wilkes' largesse was not limited to the disgraced Duke-stir. In fact, Wilkes is a host of some renown. According to Josh Marshall, Wilkes' moveable feasts of food, poker, and love are something of an institution in Washington. His parties have been bringing defense contractors, crooked politicians and spooks together for at about 15 years. Even chairman of the House Intelligence Committee says he isn't surprised about the tales of debauchery swirling around Wilkes, Cunningham, and their cronies.
CIA Executive Director Kyle "Dusty" Foggo. A Porter Goss appointee, the third most-senior official at the CIA, a very good friend of Brent Wilkes, and a regular guest at Wilkes' soirees. Goss denies having attended any of the parties. So, everyone is wondering how Goss met Foggo.
So that's the juicy Hookergate gossip update.
If Drudge says Goss is connected to Fornigate, then he really better start sweating.

Why are you calling it hookergate? The hookers are incidental. Why not call it BriberyGate?

Watergate-gate is funny, but all you need now is the word gate. Interesting, Malcome Gladwell could have a field day with this.
