Hivemind: Real or Photoshopped?

spring break, originally uploaded by yeowoman1970.

Michelle Malkin says this picture is a composite.

What do you think?

Update: It's officially a fake. Check it out and see if you were right about what was convincing or unconvincing in the picture.

A lot of people said the head was too small to be real, but the real woman's head isn't any bigger than the Michelle head appears to be in the picture.

Julia now my Photoshop sensei. She nailed what was wrong with the picture in the first five minutes: Gaussian noise added but not faded back and inconsistent compression artifacts in the face vs. body.

I don't understand why readers are criticizing me for asking the question.

I don't understand why you felt the need to repost the picture, or indeed to pay this sordid little shitflinging contest any attention at all. (As for "you'll notice I merely asked the question", that's Reynolds-esque sophistry (last line of the linked post). Ugh.)

As for where the Bosticks were etc., I guess I am a Bostick in this context and I pointed to the Althouse commentary (and associated vileness) with evident disgust, even though I don't comment much on politics on my own blog any more. (I prefer to leave political commentary to people who are better at it -- like Lindsay. Which is why I am irritated when she wastes her time on gossip and worse.) So perhaps Alon Levy will allow as how I'm entitled to my current disagreement with our hostess. Once he's through with that, perhaps he will explain to me why I need to comment on every excess of my political opponents in order to establish credibility when I criticize someone on "my side".

"I found the picture on Michelle's blog!"

I hope you treat yourself to something especialy nice this evening, Lindsey. You deserve it.

Bill, you misunderstood my comment. When I asked "Where were the Alan Bosticks?" I meant the Alan Bosticks of the right. Where were the decent conservatives who attacked Althouse when she called Jessica a slut?

Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay, with an "A" for a lovely green apple.

"Like I always say: 'Conservatives hate what people do; Liberals hate what people are.'" -Y. Steel

Is that what you always say? I always say: "a stitch in time saves nine!" And my grandmother, who's now deceased, always said: "Sixteen monkees won't get you to Madagascar!" But I never knew what the hell she meant.

When I asked "Where were the Alan Bosticks?" I meant the Alan Bosticks of the right.

Ah, I see. Mea culpa, too, now that I read it again: the quoted remark makes your intent clear. My apologies for the snark.

My apologies for the lack of clarity.

I found the picture on Michelle's blog!

I stillthink it is unethical to present a falsified photo that has the effect of falsely defaming someone without that person's explicit permission. I am unable to imagine how magic thighs herself does not see this. Oh the sophistry!

That's the point: it wasn't clear it's fake (in fact, I'm still not sure it is - but as I said, I don't really care).

You'll notice I merely asked the question. How is that unethical?

And Glenn Reynolds just links. What's the prob?

That's the point: it wasn't clear it's fake (in fact, I'm still not sure it is -

That some woman had her personal photos stolen and altered doesn't bother you? Really? I can't wait 'til the ricochet hits you. I'm going to cry so many tears when it does.

Photoshopped...No way her ass is that small.

It just doesn't get any more feminist than that.

Wow thats a bad photshop, and anybody who thinks other wise clearly has an agenda. If anything my agenda rests with it wanting to be real since I think she's hot. But come on, that's not even close to being convincing. Somebody needs to get out of the fucking house and get laid in the worse possible way.

I don't care! I don't care! I don't care!
Really I don't!

You guys are a veritable bunch of Andrea Dworkins. Feminist stalwarts:

Webster: I am unable to imagine howmagic thighs herself does not see this. Oh the sophistry!

SparkPlug: "If anything my agenda rests with it wanting to be real since I think she's hot. But come on, that's not even close to being convincing. Somebody needs to get out of the fucking house and get laid in the worse possible way.

It must be nice to occupy the moral high ground.

I think you are by a large margin, purposefully over reacting to make a situation out of some perceived slight. Lindsay asked whether the picture was photoshoped and made no commentary otherwise. Yes, she has politics in her blog, but she also posts about photographs because, yes, it's her hobby if you know anything about her. Give it a rest, you're being a drama queen.

Are you still defending the authenticity of the Rathergate memos? Say, there's a thought for you. Maybe it IS photoshpped, but what if it "really looks like her," eh Lindsay? Go for it!!

Repellent.

Are you people trying to help Bush? Really. I mean that. Take me, as a minor, minor, trivial case. I have had serious misgivngs and second thoughts about the war and Bush., etc. He screwed up. Totally. So I'm ready to vote Dem. I honestly am. But then, ... to help even partially empower people like you? *ugh ugh ugh*

All your side needs to do is give some minor sign that you're slightly more honorable than Bush's crew. That's all it would.

Same as above, drama queen. Anybody whose vote is hanging on the balance of a photoshop discussion versus other world issues like torture, immigration, and the war in Iraq, and cannot sufficiently seperate the two, has other issues.

Count,

You make a good point. I'm almost certainly going to vote Dem this fall. And, then, having made common cause with repellent creatures like Lindsey Breyerstein and Oliver Willis, I'm going to puke.

"Vote Dem in 06 -- Barely not as bad as the Pedophile Party."

LindsAy!!!

For Christ' sake, look at the height of the gal versus the height of the refrigerator and the chair at left.

She's WAY WAY WAY taller than Michelle Malkin.

Now I suppose you'll say she's standing on a box and her feet are 4 inches below her knees.

You guys are fuggin pinheads.

I wouldn't ask you to vote either Democrat or Republican, but for the person who's issues most represent what you support. Hopefully, most of them are major issues that need fixing. That being said there are a plethra of other candidates out there from the Green, Libertarian, and other what not parties that might inject a little needed criticism of the BIG TWO electable parties whom you could choose. Just because we currently are a two party system, doesn't mean that it must remain that way forever - that would be all too narrow minded.

Please people, am I the only one here who actually went to the beach in 1992? There's no way in hell that bikini is from 1992. No way, no how. Check out the Swedish Bikini Team on the cover of Playboy, Januray 1992. That's how bikini bottoms were cut back then. That low rise bikini in the picture is maybe a couple of years old at best.

The owner of the original photos has come forward. These are fakes. Someone owes Michelle Malkin an apology.

That would be Wonkette, and not anybody here. Wrong blog.

Uh, why were you lefties all excited about this again?
Malkin wrote a column about the sexualization of kids, and some liberals posted this picture to show she was a hypocrite, because she...wore a bikini when she was 21 years old.

You just..don't....get it.

Psst. It's a photoshop.

Er, stupid copy/paste.

i'm surprised that more people didn't agree with lindsey bernstein...the photo makes malkin look like she has a shrunken head.

silly fools...you just wanted to believe this so much didn't you?

Nice. So much for the photoshop "experts"...
