Hudood Ordinance reforms in Pakistan

The Pakistan Women's Protection Bill is up for a vote today. The bill does not repeal the regressive Hudood Ordinance if 1979, but some observers feel that it is a significant step forward and that it is as much as can be achieved in the current political cliimate.

My friend Ali Eteraz has written an Op/Ed arguing that the current legislation is a step towards greater gender equality in Pakistan.
