George H. W. Bush regarding Dubya: That poor bastard

Bush 41 is worried about Bush 43:

Earlier this month, the elder Bush was reported to have told the audience at a Republican fundraiser in a Philadelphia suburb that "if we have some of these wild Democrats in charge of these [congressional] committees, it will be a ghastly thing for our country."

He was also quoted as saying, "I would hate to think . . . what my son's life would be like" if their Republican Party lost its majorities.

Bush, Jr. later complained that his father hadn't call him to tell him so himself:

President Bush gently admonished his father for saying he hates to think what life will be like for his son if the Democrats win control of Congress in the Nov. 7 election.

"He shouldn't be speculating like this, because -- he should have called me ahead of time and I'd tell him they're not going to [win]," a smiling Bush said during an interview broadcast yesterday on the ABC program "This Week."

Pathetic. Just pathetic.

"he should have called me ahead of time and I'd tell him they're not going to [win]"

Most think this is cheerleading and positive thinking, if not delusion. I think Bush knows, as he knew in 2004. I don't use scare quotes.

You can call me unjustly paranoid after the election. Or you can say it's my fault for not making enough phone calls. Whatever.

Those wild Democrats! There'll be unisex bathrooms, and clothing-optional commitee meetings under the Capitol dome in no time.

And regarding Junior's optimism, i'd be more willing to credit paranoid theories if these kind of delusions weren't the pattern in every area of his life. But this is a man who still clings to the belief his war plan is going swimmingly, and who excommunicates from his circle anyone who tells him what he doesn't want to hear.

I think that bob and Cass may both be right. Commander Codpiece does live the Grand Delusion, but he may also know something about the upcoming midterms that we don't. Election fraud? Maybe. October surprise? Quite possibly. Semi-retarded functionally-illiterate messianic-complex smirking-chimp shithead? Most assuredly.

Bush the First was very lucky to escape the Iran-Contra controversy unscathed. He was deeply implicated in Iran Contra, but he successfully stonewalled the investigation.

The aide who successfully protected him was John Schmitz of the insane child-molesting Southern California Republican Schmitz family.

Walsh report, Bush Chapter

Yup, the machines are going to give the Republicans their majority despite what the people want. I wish it weren't true, I go to bed at night hoping it's not true, but they've gotten away with so much already. Why stop now?

41 has been friends with Bill Clinton for years. Their dual plea for Katrina aid must have really chafed junior's ass.

I seriously doubt father & son are on speaking terms. And without professing any great love for 41, I think he at least had a neuron or two that could fire without short-circuiting.

If 41 has anything resembling a soul (a very big if), he's probably regretting that day 60 years ago when he didn't pull out before shooting.

Perhaps Bush Sr. is now pro abortion after seeing his son screw everything up.

This could be nothing more than banter. I’m willing to believe it is. On the other hand, we do know that something is just deeply weird about that family. I recall reading that George Jr. went to visit Dad while he was ambassador to China. Dubya apparently spent the whole time hanging out with the marine guard and never left the embassy grounds. If you were his parent, wouldn’t you tell the little snot to get up off his know-nothing ass and take the opportunity to see the sights of one of the greatest cities in history? WTF? It’s not like the son of the American ambassador has to worry about pickpockets or taxi drivers taking him to the cleaners. Were Poppy and Mom just too embarrassed by their tobacco chewing, loudmouthed, evolutionary throwback spawn to let the locals see the freak? Or do they think parenting means letting your little brats grow up to be petulant ignoramuses if they so choose? These people are supposed to be patrician American royalty, or at least they seem to think they are. Where’s the class? How is it that Dubya’s daughters show up at Buckingham palace wearing jeans? How is it that these people remain trailer trash in the worst sense of the term?

From his touching relationships to his father to his deep compassion for death row inmates Bush is all heart, all blackened, pus filled heart.

crfost - I dunno how he was as a kid, but its possible that Poppy was worried about an international incident if the kid did something stupid. Could be he was restricted to grounds on Poppy's orders.

Carson - Poppy and Junior may or may not be on speaking terms, but Poppy knows that the Bush family name is now mud for a generation. If investigations lead to impeachment hearings or even resignation, the Bush family will be out of the king business for a century or more.
