Update on the Iranian women sentenced to death by stoning

Thanks to everyone participating in Eteraz's letter writing campaign on behalf of the seven Iranian women sentenced to death by stoning.

Yesterday Eteraz published some encouraging news about the case: Kobra Rahmanpour has been granted a one-month stay of execution.

The fate of Shamameh Malak Ghorbany, a 34-year-old mother of two, will not be known for several more days. A court has ruled on her sentence but its verdict has not yet been announced.

Nothing more is known about the status of the other five women.

Eteraz also found a letter from a man who witnessed his mother's death by stoning at the age of 14.

Keep the pressure on. Here are some simple steps you can take to help these women:

1. Sign this petition. It's in Farsi, but just scroll down to the text fields and type in your name.
2. Submit your appeals to the addresses recommended by Amnesty International. (Additional addresses here.)
3. Follow Eteraz' recommended steps, if you haven't already done so.

Yes, just do this - costs nothing and might, hopefully do some good. You really have no excuse not to.

Done, thank you Lindsay, cfrost and Phantom.

Now this IS Islamofascism - when it's state sponsored. But it's derivitive of Judaism...the stoning, and all of that crap. They (muslims and xians) get it from "the book" ie. the so-called Holy Bible.

Thank you again for the information.
