Quote of the day: Gov. Eliot Spitzer on etiquette

NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer, originally uploaded by Lindsay Beyerstein.

“I was told by Senator Bruno and others it violates the rules of etiquette to get involved in Senate races,” the governor said, referring to his campaigning in the recent special election in Nassau County, where Democrat Craig Johnson prevailed.

“I said, you know, sometimes the rules of etiquette are designed to maintain a status quo that isn’t quite right for the public,” he said, adding, “I’m not going to worry about challenging those rules of etiquette when I think the public interest demands it and requires it.”

Words to live by.

Spitzer in 2016!

The man, in his own words, is a fuckin' steamroller.

If he runs in 2016, I want to be his head blogger. He's not afraid to speak his mind.

An intriguing individual.

New York's Sheldon Silver and the corrupt whorehouse that is the NY State Assembly won round one against Spitzer, but at least a proper fight has begun.

Against many of my instincts, I am beginning to root for Spitzer a bit more every day.

For the first time since
1954 New York has a fighting governor. And like (the great) Giuliani, I get the feeling that this guy won't mind fighting on several fronts over an extended period of time.

Governor, good luck to you.

If he runs in 2016, I want to be his head blogger.

Then you'd best start watching your tongue, young lady.

All these pols preaching civility and comity are too busy patting each other on the back to get their hands dirty. Spitzer is refreshing.
