Rep. Rohrabacher: ‘I hope it’s your families that suffer’ from a terrorist attack

Last week, at a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing on "extraordinary rendition," Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) addressed those who criticize the American practice of kidnapping suspects to be tortured abroad, telling them that he hoped their families would be ones to suffer from a terrorist attack.

It's hip to be asshole these days.

Wait, I thought it was the Democrats who were supposed to be on the side of the terrorists....

Rather than focus on Rep. Rohrabacher’s despicable and depraved comments, I would prefer to focus on a hero of the moment, Col Ann Wright, who said: "I believe the Administration's policies are making the world a more dangerous, not a safer, place. I feel obligated morally and professionally to set out my very deep and firm concerns on these policies and to resign from government service as I cannot defend or implement them."

It is too easy to rage against the demagoguery and hypocrisy of Rep. Rohrabacher, and rage is not what I need or want at this moment. In two weeks, my daughter leaves for Iraq. She has no choice: A “Stop Loss” order prevents her from leaving the military under threat of prosecution. Her life, and the lives of thousands, are held captive by idiots in Washington.

Tonight, I need to focus on a voice of reason and hope for an early end to this immoral war. Thank you, Col. Wright, for speaking out.

I suppose it would be tasteless to say that I hope his family is the next one to be tortured by the CIA or by the Army?

Yeah, I guess so.

He's an asshole from the militia wing of the Republican party, and I'm not using hyperbole. I seem to remember him making some 'interesting' speeches on C-Span a while ago, but unfortunately I can't remember any of the specifics at the moment. Just that he sounded like a fucking nut.

Is it OK for a hundred other countries to kidnap people in America whom they decide are terrorists?

mind blowing madness.

that's quite a frame job on Mr. Rohrabacher's part.

how did this guy ever get elected making statements like this?

Should we criticize Rep. Rohrabacher for merely saying what every other Bush loyalist is thinking? Hell yes. Fuck them all.

Rep. Rohrabacher's email is [email protected].

Letters to the editor of the Orange County Register can be submitted at the bottom of this page, while letters to the LA Times can be submitted on this page.

Rep Roarback's sentiment shows the very heart and a stirling example of the psychology of the conservative.

No, I say hang this thing around the necks of Republicans. Post it as Republican opinion. It needs to be identified as Republican thought in practice.
