We told you so...

Tim of Balloon Juice is exasperated:

Why does anybody still care what Tom DeLay thinks? Of course he will say outrageous crap. He’s a disgraced, toxic bombast with less personal credibility than most inanimate objects. He ran the Congress into the ground and personally contributed as much as anybody to losing the GOP majority. The only way he will see his name in a headline that doesn’t include the word ‘trial’ is if he says something outrageous. He’s a troll, I say ignore him.

DeLay is a remarkable character. He's absolutely convinced of his own rectitude. All the shady and illegal things he did and facilitated are, in his mind, perfectly logical and reasonable. I wish I understood that mindset better.

I blame the partirachy media. I have seen that lout on Charlie Rose and every Sunday morning newsmaker interview show there is. I have a TV but decided to turn off the sound until I could see who was talking.

Did TD lose some weight?

I wish I understood that mindset better.

I don't think there's any great mystery. Tom DeLay looks out for Tom DeLay. It's just that he's really good at mouthing religious conservative platitudes like he actually means them. Plus, he's totally unflappable.

Every crook is absolutely convinced of their own rectitude. DeLay's not any different from his buddies Ken Lay and Duke Cunningham in that regard.

"[He] personally contributed as much as anybody to losing the GOP majority."
So why is that such a bad thing?

From Tim's perspective it's bad because he's an independent with a soft spot for Republicans!

A so-called "independent" with a "soft spot" for Republicans? Almost sound like an oxymoron, or maybe I am just too partisan.
BTW, here is one from TPM: Tom DeLay Accuses Pelosi And Reid Of Getting "Very Close To Treason"

This guy is a jerkoff! I am ashamed that he paints his viewpoint as "conservative". He is not a conservative. He is an asshole fanatic obsessed with power and imposing his views, mainly religious based, on all others, or, in today's speak, a Republican. (Democrats can be defined the same way, minus the "mainly religious based" portion of the definition.)

I find it quite ironic that Delay would accuse ANYONE of be treasonous, given his misdeeds. Delay needs to be 1) killed, or 2) exiled. Jail will do nothing to him.

He is not a conservative. He is an asshole fanatic obsessed with power

Not only would I claim that this is the very definition of a conservative, I think that most conservatives would claim that these are his most appealing characteristics.

Tyro, not all conservatives are assholes obsessed with power. That definition, which I basically laid out for politician Republicans and Democrats, encompasses about 1% of the total population, if that.

Most people here, liberal or conservative, are not a-holes nor obsessed with power. And only those who are would value those qualities as someone's most appealing characteristics.

B-Money: "Delay needs to be 1) killed ... "
Not good a thing to say these days for obvious reasons. Do you want to retract that?
