Blackwater back to work in Iraq

Surprise, surprise, private security contractor Blackwater is resuming limited operations in Iraq:

The company provides security to all US state department employees in Iraq.

It had been ordered by the Iraqi government too halt operations while a joint US-Iraqi inquiry was held.

A US embassy spokeswoman said the decision to allow Blackwater to resume work had been taken in consultation with the Iraqi government.

The spokeswoman, Mirembe Nantongo, said Blackwater operations would be limited to essential missions only outside Baghdad's heavily-fortified Green Zone. [BBC]

How nice of the of the Americans and Blackwater to ignore the Iraqi government after consulting with them.

Sit, Ubu, sit. They might as well get use to being a US client state, that's how it is.

You nailed it, Lindsay. But while I don't like to brag as to my own prophetic powers, my best friend will swear to the fact that I predicted as early as March Petraeus would use the phrases "limited progress" and "encouraging signs" in his September report to Congress. And you can book it now: the sun will be rising from the East tomorrow.

Next, we get to see how the involved parties weasel out of allowing the shooters to be held criminally responsible.

I didn't believe Blackwater was leaving, either.

only an idiot would sign up to work for Blackwater in Iraq now. They may as well wear bullseyes.
