Straight Talk Excess: John McCain called wife "cunt", "trollop"

John McCain called his wife Cindy a "cunt" in front of at least five witnesses on the campaign trail in 1992, according to Cliff Schecter's new book:

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain's intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, "You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt." McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days. [The Real McCain, PoliPoint Press, 2008.]

A "trollop"? John McCain, is indeed vying to be our first Ancient American president.

If I ever did anything even vaguely on the same planet as this to my wife, she most certainly would NOT still be with me.

She's 6'2", you see. And could probably put a serious hurt on me.

--All you pussies who are offended by this need to grow up and relize that it is just a word.--

Words have meaning. And can show all shades of meaning, including contempt, disrespect. If you think its OK to show contempt and disrespect, then goody for you. Aren't you the uncensored one.

Have always felt that words often cause deeper and much long-lasting hurt than most physical abuse.

"Just a word". Yeah.

So, I suppose Josh-the-shitwit-with-a-small-dick-and-an-inability-to-use-proper-punctuation is merely a series of words, right? Grow up yourself, pal. Salty language isn't the point, although it might be for those who think women should never be insulted. The point is that a viable candidate for president reaches for the verbal equivalent of a knife at the slightest needling by his own spouse. What's he going to do if Mahmoud Ahmedinejad tells him "nyah nyah nyah"? McCain is certifiable and it pains me that some who style themselves as progressive actually ascribe any merit to him. Doubtless that sort has neither ever been in the military or grown up, as I have, in a military environment. This is exactly what career service types think is appropriate should one's wife dare to bust one's nuggets in public.

So what's worse: A) calling your wife a cunt or, B) getting a BJ from the 24 yo intern in the oval office and sticking cigar in her? Or banging Paula Jones? Or sexually harassing Willey? You tell me?

You dislike McCain's policies and stances, but don't get on some moral high horse about the guy because he insulted his wife 16 fucking years ago! What is wrong with people? It's call common sense and perspective. get some!

Come on people...

Why even offer an "if this story is true" opinion? There is no possible way to verify this story as it stands right now. So why even bother? It's like commenting on "if" Obama is a muslim... spend your time forming opinions on facts... otherwise it's a waste of time.

B-Money, I shall be only too pleased to add to my store of perspective and common sense if you A) demonstrate conclusively that anyone here gave Clinton a pass (I favored impeachment); B)entertain the idea that for some of us it might be less about his treatment of his wife, abhorrent as it was and more about a penchant for pettiness that would cause a pampered movie star to blush and C)last, but not least, consult a style manual

Well, Doug, it is petty and the posts and the story itself prove that, so I bear no burden there. As for the Clinton reference, this was not even near the level of what Slick Willy did. BUT, I have always stated that getting the BJ was not a big deal. Cheating on the wife was not the crime, it was the lying.

This "story" is worthless and irrelevant. It is 16 years old for goodness sake! That is my point. People with common sense and perspective would realize that.

As for a sense of style, well, you do not know me, a fact of which I relish, so my style is of no consequence to you sir.

The perjury wasn't so cool.

And if this isn't an employment-related situation, I don't know what is. Imagine the howls of anguish if it was discovered that McCain had a Lewinsky episode.

I was not in favor of impeachment, but this matter episode exposed astonishing hypocrisy from all directions.

Really Phantom? So insulting your wife 16 years ago disqualifies a person from the Presidency, merely because unnamed sources say it is so? Come on...

B Money

No, I'm not arguing with you here

I was expounding on your comment on Bill Clinton

I don't even know if I believe what is said here about McCain, and if true it is not nearly as bad as what Clinton did.

I'd be mad at McCain for making such a comment under any circumstance, but it does not come close to the level of what Clinton did ( from both employer conduct and perjury standpoints )

Wow Josh, you really just don't get it do you?

Whatever differences John and Cindy might have had in the past, they've patched it up and got her doing the Nancy Reagan gaze whenever they're together in public now. She's even more over the top with the creepy, adoring stare than Nancy was with her beloved studmuffin Ronnie. Someone better tell Cindy she looks like a zombie when she's with John.

How disgusting. How typically Repuublican.

All of us have our flaws. By his own admission, John McCain has stated that he has been an imperfect servant. If one looks at history, some of those we revere, e.g. Kennedy, King, etc., have had their own personal struggles, but when we look at the whole of their life we have a different view. Easier to judge another, harder to look at oneself.

I love how everyone says that personal info is a factor for McCain. These are probably the same people who shouted from the housetops that we should stay out of Clinton's persnal life after the Monica lewinsky scandal. Talk about being two-faced. And we dare not get into Barack's personal life and the things HE does. Yeah right. Typical liberal double talk.

Yeah, Josh, and you're a pencil-dick. And that's just a hypenated word.

I would hardly call women, or men for that matter, pussies for being offened for hearing another human being called a cunt. Yes it is just a word, but how else can we evaluate people but by their words and actions? Words can be horribly hurtful. People in general should not use words like that, much less someone in front of a camera 24/7 trying to prove he is a trustworthy, honest man. It's not as if he was speaking to a child molester, it was his WIFE!! And, yes, she is oh-so-lucky he didn't "whoop her ass" for telling him he was gonig bald. We women just need big, strong men like you, cfrost, to put us in our place. Your arrogance, ignorance and medieval approach to male/female interactions is both repulsive and heart-breaking.

I apologize cfrost, that previous post was supposed to be directed to "josh".

McWar or McCain stands for nothing!
But he sold his soul.......
He will be a puppet for the elitists that run this country and when they say jump McCain will say, how high! He will fail you!

He belongs to CFR! and yes Hillery and Obama are CFR too....

CFR Council Of Foreign Relations How They CONTROL THE MEDIA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcgd67Sxvzo

McCain, (CFR member), and Huckabee - both have said they will rely on CFR top officials to guide them in policy!!!.... Nillerys daughter works for a corporate CFR member, News Corp, the media mogul who is owned by Rupert Murdoch. (who also owns the Dow Jones and is trying to swindle Yahoo out of the grips of Bill Gates)....

The CFR has monopolized the media, oil companies, banks and big business.. and it controls the government and this small group of approximately 3K members controls 3/4 of the WORLD'S WEALTH! Many are UN members, dual citizens of Israel and hold prominent positions in government or media....

He has got my vote now. Many women are in fact C#nts. Own up to the fact.

You're right, cfrost - cunt is just a word; so is nigger, fag, spic, kike, etc, etc. In the world of international relations, words are of paramount importance. If you string enough words together, you get sentences, paragraphs and eventually, you can wind up with State of the Unio speeches where you lie to the American people. All this to say that words matter a great deal and reveal a lot about the speaker.

Certainly inappropriate, but not a disqualifier for the presidency. Being unfaithful to your wife if far more disrespectful and it wasn't enough to disqualify. Find better reasons.

McCain kicked a citizen journalist out of a town hall meeting in Des Moines just for asking whether he called his wife a "cunt". Shows what cowards the working press are that nobody has asked him point-blank in over three weeks since Cliff Schecter's book came out.

That is terrible. Ron Paul wouldn't say that. And he'd end the war... Yeah I know, wrong place..
