When my niece and nephew were kids I once gave them some quartz or something I had found that looked exactly like peanut butter fudge. They took the bait, and though arguably cruel, it was pretty funny.

This was before they got permanent teeth, right?

This was before they got permanent teeth, right?

Yeah it was. They thought it was funny, but were also kind of annoyed that it was not actually candy.

Thanks, Lindsay! I love a well cooked rock. You should post a recipe for stone soup too.

Stone soup- here's your recipe.

Cfrost,
How did they keep the water in the baskets with open weaves? Were they steamers inside other baskets that were water tight?
Great looking baskets! Thanks for posting the page and the recipe.

Strange to think that not so long ago cooking with hot stones in waterproof baskets was as mundane to Native Americans as microwaving is to us and as equally and mutually incomprehensible.

I go out of my way to see California Native American baskets because they took basketry a very long way both practically and aesthetically.

I love a rock garden.

Oh man COOL> Almost everywhere I go I have a rock with me always or find one. Weird to some. Comfort for me.

mudkitty -- my rock garden has something in it from everywhere I've been EVERYWHERE and every rock that a certain little hand passed up with a loving smile 'for you, mama'.
Some of the rock garden is inside. LOL.
Thanks, LB.
