Lobbying the Inauguration

My first feature story is up on the Washington Independent website. It's about how inauguration week is a cover for all kinds of lobbying and influence-peddling disguised as parties and donations to the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

I'm very excited that Ken Silverstein, who covers lobbying for Harpers' linked to the story on his blog.

Congratulations Lindsay! The lengthy blockquotation by Silverstein has to be considered high praise for your first feature! And it is indeed an excellent and eye-opening article.

wow. DC still is waist deep in sleaze. Sending Abramoff to jail didn't change things all that much. Obama has his work cut out for him. I HOPE neutering these undemocratic channels of influence is on his agenda. Or should I just be asking how much I should pay to have my wishes heard by the govmint?
